In Sustainable Cities, What Works and What Doesn’t
WBCSD and ICLEI Launch Joint Case Study and Report on City-Business Collaboration9 April 2015 – At the ICLEI World Congress in Seoul, WBCSD and Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI) launched the case study and report, “Enhancing Sustainable Urban Development through Innovative City-Business Collaboration.” Also at this event, 100 mayors from around the world committed to adopting the Seoul Declaration for sustainable cities: a comprehensive and collaborative pathway to urban sustainability – what a great day for the future of our cities!
Flip the Switch: Turning on Energy Efficiency in Buildings
WBCSD is looking forward to the Benelux Efficiency in Buildings (EEB) Laboratory 12-13 May in Amsterdam. The EEB Lab will bring together stakeholders from the building value chain and beyond, to remove the market barriers preventing widespread energy efficient investments. Our CEO Peter Bakker will speak at the closing Plenary on 13 May.
Business Proposals Call for High Level Leaders to Agree at COP21
6 May – Peter Bakker joined another 40 CEOs who have signed, “Business proposals in view of a 2015 international climate change agreement at COP 21 in Paris.” These proposals are meant to inspire collaboration between high-level leaders to reach an international agreement on climate at COP21 in Paris this December. IDH, TFD and WBCSD Join Forces to Promote Responsible Business, Improved Governance and Inclusive Development
21 April 2015 – The Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH), The Forests Dialogue (TFD) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop and mainstream approaches to sustainable land management. Internationally, CEOs Demand Action on Climate Change
Last month, the World Economic Forum released an open letter to all world leaders. 43 CEOs, with operations in over 150 countries, urged national governments to agree on ambitious climate action at COP21 this December. Thousands Collaborate to Address Water Challenges and Build an Ambitious Roadmap
In 2015, the World Economic Forum ranked water crises as the greatest societal risk of the coming decade. Between April 12-17 2015 in the Republic of Korea, WBCSD participated in the 7th World Water Forum, where close to 30,000 people collaborated to address water-related issues. Zero Waste, More Cash
Forum ö 2015: Zero Waste, More Cash will take place 18-19 June in Bern. This year’s focus is on minimizing waste by transitioning to a circular economy.
