Both sides declared their interest in actively informing entrepreneurs and companies about the importance of sustainable business development and the Czech Republic as a strong and highly developed European economy.

The signing of the Memorandum is seen by both parties as a crucial step towards making sustainable development a key topic in all activities related to the business and corporate environment in the Czech Republic.

In the Memorandum, both sides committed to concrete cooperation in a number of areas. These include, in particular, joint information activities on sustainable development in the business sphere – for example, through the organisation of expert seminars, discussions and round tables. The two sides will also support each other through the participation of experts in activities organised by one of the parties that are directly related to sustainable development in business and the corporate environment.

Another area is the involvement of Czech BCSD experts in the process of commenting on legislative and strategic materials affecting the business environment, as well as the participation of Czech BCSD experts in expert sections of the Chamber of Commerce when discussing topics related to sustainable development.

The cooperation also includes coordination and support of the positions of both parties at the international level, not only in dealing with sustainability issues involving the Czech Republic, but also, for example, in sharing the international know-how of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.

Last but not least, the two sides will also cooperate in the preparation and publication of information guides and manuals for entrepreneurs and implement other information activities focused on sustainable development within the corporate environment and business.

“We greatly appreciate our partnership with the Czech Chamber of Commerce. Sustainable business is an approach that has no alternative. It is a way to further develop the Czech economy and business environment so that the Czech Republic is among the most economically advanced countries in the world,” says Kateřina Šveřepová, President of the Czech Business Council for Sustainable Development, adding: “The Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic, which is the official representative of the business and corporate sector in the Czech Republic, is a natural partner for sustainability in business and related topics.”

Zdeněk Zajíček, President of the Czech Chamber of Commerce, adds: “We are the largest and legally established community of entrepreneurs in the country. We bring together more than 16,000 members in 58 territorial chambers and nearly 130 branch associations. Our mission is to co-create opportunities for business, to advocate and support measures that contribute to the development of responsible business in the country and thus to the overall economic stability and strength of the state. And this is where the topic of sustainable development has its irreplaceable place. We therefore welcome the cooperation with the Czech Business Council for Sustainable Development and the opportunity to join forces in strengthening outreach activities towards the Czech business environment.”
